Rachel Martin

Rachel Martin is the Information Industry Relations and Communications Manager at Elsevier where she works with a small nimble team managing the external relations related to the wider information industry.

Since joining Elsevier in 2010, she has held various positions within Elsevier in both marketing and communications. She began marketing life science journals before being responsible for the strategic marketing of Elsevier’s first open access journals. She then worked in Access and Policy, creating communication campaigns around Open Access, Open Science, accessibility and text and data mining as well as providing strategic communication input into industry initiatives such as CHORUS and the Accessible Books Consortium. She then went onto become the Chief of Staff to Michiel Kolman during his two-year International Publishers Association Presidency working on key projects such as the Sustainable Development Goals book club and the value of publishing project. Prior to Elsevier, Rachel worked in marketing and events management at companies such as Diabetes UK and Reed Exhibitions. Rachel is originally from Australia and based in Amsterdam. She is currently completing her Masters in Corporate Communication at Erasmus University and holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in marketing from Macquarie University.
