Funder perspectives on the role of publishers: a forum
Fund Ref: A Funder-Publisher Collaboration Begun as a pilot project in March 2012, the FundRef initiative responded to the need to provide improved collection and display of funder attribution for research reported in scholarly publications. The pilot, facilitated by CrossRef, included seven publishers and four funding agencies working collaboratively toward a community-wide solution. Having demonstrated feasibility during the pilot, a final report with findings and recommendations was very recently issued, and the CrossRef board approved moving forward with implementation of FundRef as a CrossRef service.
