STM Early Career Publishers Speed Networking Event – London

Are you interested in a career in publishing? Already working in the industry and/or looking to meet like-minded professionals to discuss and develop the skills required?

After the success of our 2016 event, the STM Early Career Publishers Committee will be running another speed networking event in London on Thursday 5th October!

Join us for an evening of complimentary drinks and snacks in central London, to help to build your networks and engage with others in the publishing community.

Date: Thursday 5th October 2017.

Time: Doors open at 6:00pm, event begins at 6:30pm

Location: The Stables (downstairs opposite the Glasshouse Building) , 68 Wharfdale Road, London, N1 9SR.

Introduction by STM Early Career Publishers Committee Chair:

Rachel Moriarty, is an experienced Computer Science Editor in the UK, she manages a program of 21 traditional journals and was responsible for the successful launch and development of a further five Open Access Journals.

She has been working in academic publishing since joining Springer Nature in 2009, following completion of an MSc in Publishing. Her other areas of expertise and interest include: Open Access, Social Media, Publishing Ethics and journal metrics.

Rachel is currently the Chair of the STM Association’s Early Career Publishers Committee (ECPC) and part of their Mentoring and Graduate Publishing Sub-Committees. She recently participated in a panel at the 2017 London Book Fair, discussing "Careers in Academic Publishing: Developing and Enhancing Skills and Experience" along with other members of the ECPC.

Events Terms and Conditions

Cancellation
Where an event has registration fees, cancellations made in writing up to 30 days before an event are eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds can be made for cancellations received on or after 30 days prior to the event date, however, substitutions may be made free of charge at any time.

Insurance
Registration fees do not include insurance. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects.
