Publication Ethics – doing the right thing
An interactive webinar

More and more cases of research and publication ethics are coming to prominence and making headlines. While these raise questions about the culture of scientific research today and how that influences the behaviour of researchers, these cases are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the range and volume of issues publishers and editors deal with as a matter of routine. Over and above their day job of managing the process of vetting and disseminating research findings, they are increasingly finding themselves, not only with the responsibility of maintaining the integrity of the published scientific record, but also as investigators, mediators and even judges of the ethical conduct of researchers. These roles currently sit with editors and publishers regardless of whether they should. This webinar will present challenging experiences of research and publication ethics issues from the perspective of a journal editor, a journal publisher and the Committee on Publication Ethics. There will follow a discussion of the issues raised by the speakers with an opportunity to pose questions to the speakers.
