A half-day Journal Publishers Forum Seminar in conjunction with ALPSP, the Publishers Association and STM
FACT Seminars are concerned with the Fundamentals, dealing with breaking news Advances and Changes in Technology as they affect STM publishing and publishers.
Scope
Text and data mining (TDM) is one of the hottest topics in scholarly publishing in 2013, impacting publishers, authors and readers alike. The landscape of TDM is changing rapidly and the issues are currently being discussed though wide stakeholder engagement via the ECs’ ‘Licenses for Europe’ dialogue.
Whilst technological advancement has wrought fast and efficient tools to help both publishers and readers alike, however, the licensing aspect of TDM is far from clear-cut.
This timely event will explore the current TDM scene and look at how publishers are working to ensure that licensing agreements are both fair and practical. It will present case studies from across Europe; examine the legal obligations surrounding TDM and draw conclusions as to where the industry is moving next.
Who should attend?
