Panel Speakers

Joanne Sheppard is the Vice President of Strategy and Investments for Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, a media group dedicated to science and education. In this capacity, she is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the business, product development and acquisition, as well as the innovation processes.

Joanne has presented at conferences and universities worldwide, including Tools of Change, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Harvard Medical School. 

 

Andreas Paminger, Director Operations at De Gruyter, has a BS in Management and Business Administration from Skidmore College and an MBA in Global Business from the Boston College Carroll School of Management. Starting his publishing career at Springer Science+Business Media, Andreas has spent the past four years managing De Gruyter’s global fulfillment, customer service, data quality and general operations activities.

 

A former physicist turned publishing technology professional with research, editorial, product and executive management experience at Emerald, Digital Science, JoVE, and Harvard Medical School.

Jones is also a Scholarly Kitchen ‘chef’ (a regular contributor to the influential scholarly communications blog), a member of the editorial board of Learned Publishing, and serves on a number of industry committees for the STM Association and Society for Scholarly Publishing.

Phill was the first Editorial Director at JoVE. In a former life, Phill was an academic researcher, having held a faculty appointment in Neurology at Harvard Medical School. His PhD is in Atomic and Plasma Physics.

Phill has all the experience, skills, leadership qualities and vision to help deliver digital solutions that chime well with our communities needs, and increase the impact of the research we publish.

 

Angela Richardson is an expert in academic journal publishing and journal development. Angela began her career in her native England as a Managing Editor for a prestigious Computer Science journal. After guiding the journal to its place as one of the most respected in its field, Angela moved to Editorial positions at Blackwell Publishing in Oxford and later in Boston, USA. Angela is now Senior Publisher at Wolters Kluwer Health.

The Early Career Publishers Committee is comprised of publishers from STM member companies interested in promoting outreach and engagement with entry level and experienced publishers.


Events Terms and Conditions

Cancellation
Where an event has registration fees, cancellations made in writing up to 30 days before an event are eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds can be made for cancellations received on or after 30 days prior to the event date, however, substitutions may be made free of charge at any time.

Insurance
Registration fees do not include insurance. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects.
